Partnership Renewal Between Casio and Infiniti Red Bull Racing F1™ Team

24th February 2014, Singapore - Casio Computer Co., Ltd. had announced its contract renewal with the 2013 Formula OneTM World Champion team - the Infiniti Red Bull Racing for year 2014 and 2015. EDIFICE, Casio’s brand of analog metal watches for men, will be the official team watch for the next two seasons.

In additional, the Casio logo will continue to appear on racing suits worn by the team's two drivers, as well as on the mechanics' uniforms. The logo will also remain on the nose of the team's race cars.

Having been partners since 2009, Casio believes that Infiniti Red Bull Racing Team's youthful and energetic image, and also their perusant to make its race cars the fastest in the world are a perfect match for the EDIFICE brand concept.

Hiroshi Nakamura, Senior Managing Director and Senior General Manager of the Global Marketing Headquarters, Casio Computer Co. Ltd., had said that their partnership with the four years running World Champion, Infiniti Red Bull Racing, has been very effective in worldwide promotion of the EDIFICE brand.

Infiniti Red Bull Racing’s Team Principal, Christian Horner, also commented that they are delighted on the partnership renewal with Casio, who is one of their longest-standing partners since 2009. "Since then we have built up a close alliance, which is due to our mutual understanding of the exacting nature of the environments we operate in. Channel U 《冲锋!》 Scrum! Private Screening

Am invited by Channel U to the private screening of their latest blockbuster, 《冲锋!》 Scrum! at Sheraton Towers Singapore Hotel on last Thursday.

Had a chance to meet the casts of Scrum! in person, which are eye candies for many, be it for the guys or gals.

The session started with the introduction of the casts and some short interview, followed by Jeffrey Xu singing the theme song of the drama.

The story is about a bunch of passionate polytechnic rugby players who is stuck in a doldrums of failures, ended up always being last in all the competition. They’re known as the hooligans without teeth in the school – the empty vessels. Their only hope back onto the path of victory, will be an experienced coach to lead them.

A champion rugby coach in the B Division boys, Huang Zhao Nan, who is fiery in nature, openly challenged and attacked the referee- during one of the crucial B division rugby matches, resulting in 1 year suspension. She is then invited by the Principal of Greenwood Polytechnic as their interim rugby coach and took on the job just to bid time, with no intention to train the poly players, whom she think, are amateur, and with no will or skills to compete. However, after several eventful encounters, the Black Rhino boys’ sincerity and thirst for success changed her mindset.

At the same time, Li Yong Chun, an over-aged brat who enrolled in the school as a student, started to woo after Zhao Nan, much to her disdain.  Unknown to all, Li is actually an undercover agent to uncover an online illegal gambling syndicate.

Then start the screening of the first episode, which many can't help bursting into laughters throughout, due to the funny and witty conversations of the various casts.  There is many usage of word punning through out, and I'm gonna check out the script writer!

Love the storyline which encourage one to go all the way out to persue his/her dreams and the never say die spirit, for every cloud has its silver lining!  Persevere and you will prevail!

And of course the private screening can't end without having some games and photo taking...

Nahm Tops Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2014

SINGAPORE, 24 February 2014 -- Into its second year, Asia's 50 Best Restaurants, sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna and organised by William Reed Business Media, announced the 2014 winners at Capella Hotel, Singapore.

Chef David Thompson of Bangkok's Nahm Restaurant takes over the No.1 spot from last year's winner, Nariwasa (No.2) at the Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2014 awards in Singapore.  Nahm is also titled as The S.Pellegrino Asia's Best Restaurant and The S. Pellegrino Best Restaurant in Thailand.

Say Cheese with "Polaroid"

I'm sure most people are familiar with the following product:

"Say Cheese!" is probably the first thing that come across your mind upon seeing this Polaroid instant camera alike gadget!  However, the fact is, the above is not an instant camera! While you may still say cheese to it, it won't produce any instant photo shots, but rather, slices your cheese!

Came across this innovative product when reading through the Chinese newspaper, 《联合晚报》Lian He Wan Bao. This "Say Cheese Instant Slicer" is actually designed by a San Francisco design company, Gamago.  Don't you think it's cool?  And it costs only USD10.00!

百萬亞瑟王 Million Arthur Hitting the Shores of Singapore Soon!

SilkAir Embraces the Joy of Flying

The regional wing of Singapore Airlines, SilkAir has recently launched a campaign to rekindle the joy of flying.  Moving away from the idea of travel as being purely transactional, ‘A Joy to Fly’ campaign redefines true value for the discerning traveller, emphasising and bringing to life the many benefits that SilkAir offers through a set of distinctive icons that feature across all the ads.

The new regional campaign aims to further differentiate SilkAir and cement its positioning as a full-service carrier, with benefits, including 30kg and 40kg baggage allowance for Economy and Business class respectively, inflight meals, reliable flight schedule, the KrisFlyer frequent flyer programme and check-in service. In additional, a wireless inflight entertainment system that will allow for free wireless streaming of blockbuster hits, chart-topping music to customers’ laptops and personal handheld devices is expected to roll out from Q2 2014.

Starbucks Singapore 100th Store Gives Back to Local Community

Starbucks marks its new milestone on last Friday, 14 February 2014, with the opening of its 100th store in Singapore at the iconic Fullerton Waterboat House.

Starbucks Singapore has been supporting the ARC organization through various programs since 2005, including the setting up of a café training facility for youth with autism last year in Pathlight School, a unit of ARC. The 100th Store is the first store in Singapore to collaborate with the Singapore Autism Resource Center’s (ARC) Employability and Employment Center (E2C) to train people with autism and equip them with skills necessary for purposeful employment.  Six partners from the Autism Resource Centre’s (ARC) program are hired as part of a long-term commitment to work with ARC, and give back to the local community.  Minister for Social and Family Development and Second Minister for Defence , Mr. Chan Chun Sing, has graced this momentous opening, together with Starbucks partners and executives from ARC.

As part of this collaboration, two special Starbucks® tumblers designed by a student at Pathlight School will be sold exclusively at the Starbucks® 100th store, with $5 from the sales of each tumbler going to fund the ARC’s efforts.
With a seating capacity of 180 person, the Starbucks Fullerton Waterboat House Store is the biggest fully air-conditioned store in Singapore, and features the first split bar in Singapore, a concept to encourage interaction between customers and partners.  Customers also get to experience the first dedicated Starbucks® slow bar in Singapore, where a Starbucks Coffee Master will be available to introduce and educate customers on how to prepare coffee with one of the three manual brewing methods: Coffee Press, Pour-Over and Chemex.

The store houses a nautical-themed interior and a wall dedicated to showcase the talents of the Pathlight School to raise autism awareness . There is also a hand-drawn depiction of 6 Samsui women on the wall by Singaporean artist, Ly Yeow, paying tribute to the heritage of the Waterboat House which witnessed the early migration of Chinese settlers to Singapore. Moving into the seating area, customers can enjoy photos of Singapore in the 1900s replicated from archive photos lined up on a large feature wall. Refurbished sofas and arm chairs hand-picked from local sources, together with 100% LED lights used, is an initiative of Starbucks to build a more environmental friendly store.

Channel U: A Date with K-pop Stars 《我和韩星有个约会》

Have you ever wonder where do the K-pop stars frequent, and where is their favourite hang out place or dinning place and hoping a chance to bump into some of them during your trip to Korea?  You'll be able to get the answer from Channel U's upcoming Korea reality travel program, 《我和韩星有个约会》 A Date with K-pop Stars, which is a co-production between MediaCorp and Korea’s CJ E&M. The program will be telecast in both Singapore and Korea.

The program will feature MediaCorp artiste, Julie Tan 陈欣淇, together with various K-pop stars, uncovering the Korean culture, the latest trends in Korean, favourite spots and activities among the Koreans, best shopping places in Korea, etc.

Viewers will also get to witness the real K-pop scene when Julie joins Dal Shabet for their concert’s dance training.

Participating K-pop stars include: Dal Shabet, Rainbow, Teen Top, Hwang Kwang Hee from ZE:A, Moon Hee Joon, Saerom, A-Jax, Clara, Jewelry etc.

Qn: Which K-Pop Star left the deepest impression on you? Why? 
Ans: ZE:A Hwang Kwang Hee. I tend to be reserved with K-pop stars because fans can get jealous. However, he told me to open up and be myself.

Qn: What is the greatest challenge when filming for the show? 
Ans: Language barrier because I had to speak to the camera in Mandarin, and English to the K-pop stars with a basic Korean.

Beauty and the Beast Season Two Premieres in Asia on RTL-CBS 18 February

Photos of Shane Cao Featured on XINMSN Entertainment

Thanks to Kevin of 海蝶音乐 Ocean Butterflies Singapore, two of my photos of Shane Cao's Rigel Singapore Music Showcase (曹轩宾 <参宿七> 新加坡音乐会) are featured on XINMSN Entertainment.

It is by coincidental chance that I get to know Kevin, and happened that he is in charged of Shane's promotional campaign in Singapore.  I passed him the photos that I've taken of the music showcase as requested, with thoughts that some of these may be used on 海蝶音乐 Ocean Butterflies Singapore Facebook page, and had not check with him, what will be the actual use of those photos.  Never did I expect, these will appear on XINMSN Entertainment.  It is a pleasant surprise for me when I was googling on the web, doing a search on my own name ;P

This is a great motivation for me and I definitely want to polish up my photography skills further for better photos in the future!
