Eu Yan Sang TCM Weight Management

Sponsored Post
-------------------

Most women are dealing with their weight issues for their entire life, be it underweight or overweight, except for the few blessed ones.

Women like me, who are near to stepping into the big forties, are likely to face midlife crisis, such as midlife weight gain due to slow down of body metabolism. If I tell you I've never thought of slimming down, it will be lying to you!

Here, I'm not promoting for excessive weight loss. While I strongly believe that natural is beauty, and we should never judge a book by its cover, we can't deny the fact that first impression counts. Excessive weight loss can only bring about health issues like anorexia nervosa which is an eating disorder.  As a modern woman today, we need to take charge of our own lives and know what is needed best for ourselves.

We need to recognize that obesity is a problem, not because it hinders our looks, but rather, it may be suggestive to health issues. We all know that obesity is likely to bring about health issues like: fatigue, sweating, headache, shortness of breath, back pain, constipation, stomach bloating, diabetes, high blood pressure and osteoarthritis, etc.  Also, it is likely to bring upon lower self-esteem when one simply can't fits in all sizes available in that department store, not even XXL!?!!  Self-confidence is a great contributing factor to beauty!

It's not as if I was never tempted to step into the slimming centers, but I see real life examples of friends of mine, who successfully slimmed down, soon gain weight rebound after they stopped their slimming program and STRICT diet plans suggested to them.

I do ever consider taking a more natural approach like TCM which promotes healthy weight loss through their treatment. Having learnt that TCM approach is mainly referring to the use of acupuncture really puts me off.  Friends who know me well, I'm very afraid of injections, let alone having needles pricking on my body??? This is a big NO to me.

However, after watching the below video on TCM Weight Management (Eu Yan Sang TCM Clinic), I do have second thoughts....

Apparently, I have the misconception of acupuncture is a painful process, which should be more like an achy or numb sensation. After verified with some of my friends who have ever taken acupuncture before, some shared that it felt like a mosquito sting for that moment.

Eu Yan Sang’s TCM approach helps with improving the internal health conditions, stimulate sweat glands, detoxify body, improve metabolism, slow down digestion and suppress appetite, etc., with mainly acupuncture, coupled with prescribed herbal medication, cupping and ear acupressure.  Their proprietary Weight Management Program has a stabilization period that helps reduce chances of weight rebound.  It’s always better to consult a physician to prescribe the best herbal treatment for your specific physique and body condition in order to lose weight effectively.

Interested to find out more about Eu Yan Sang’s TCM Weight Management Program? Sign up for the FREE WORKSHOP on 05 May 2015 by filing up the form here. Dinner and refreshments will be provided during the workshop. There will also be a token of appreciation for all successful attendees.

P/S: Remember, a good treatment alone is not sufficient for you to conquer your weight issue.  A good & balanced diet with regular exercising are also crucial in achieving to live in the body you have always wanted.

A So Delicate Affair @ Xperience Restaurant & Bar, Sofitel SoSingapore

In the heart of the Central Business District (CBD), stands Sofitel So, a luxury boutique hotel under the Accor Hotel Group, where timeless French elegance fuses with modern Singapore Chic in the iconic heritage building.

Cozy Corner where diners can chill out with a big group of friends

Open Kitchen Concept @ Xperience Restaurant & Bar

With Mother's Day coming, it's high time to show your appreciation to your stay home mom who slogs all day to ensure you get home to a clean and cozy house, or the working mom who works so hard to striking a balance in both work and family life. If you are planning for an exquisite dining experience with your beloved mom this Mother's Day, take a look at the meticulously crafted menu by resident culinary designer Chef Anne-Cécile Degenne of Xperience Restaurant. The mom who loves French fusion cuisine will surely enjoy it.

The 4-course Mother’s Day menu is offered from the evening of the 9th of May to the afternoon of 10th May where diners can choose between an exquisite dinner or a lovely Sunday brunch.

All dishes in this special menu are made with finest ingredients imported from France, creating a quartet of delicacy that is enchanting to both the palate and the eyes.

Be welcomed by a refreshing complimentary welcome cocktail and bread, followed by a tantalising crab salad, created with Sri Lankan crabs meat strips, French caviar, crisp salad and pomelo pulps served in a light dressing of olive oil, lemon juice and grapefruit juice.  The salad is simply flavourful. The coriander and lime sorbet (which I initially thought, was of cucumber and lime), is refreshing and adds some zestiness to the salad.  For those who dislike the smell of coriander, fret not, the proportions of lime is obviously higher than the coriander in the sorbet, thus, you can barely notice the presence of coriander!

Complimentary bread

Crab Salad with Caviar, Pomelo, and Seaweed

The second starter, Seared Foie Gras and Truffle Emulsion with Mushroom Ravioli is inspired by Chef Anne-Cécile’s beloved home town, the port city of Bordeaux in South-Western France. The foie gras, pan-seared to perfection, is of no gamey taste, but of a buttery and rich taste. Beneath the foie gras, actually lies pockets of handmade ravioli filled with freshly imported white mushroom and porcini, immersed in truffle emulsion, that are simply toothsome.

Seared Foie Gras and Truffle Emulsion with Mushroom Ravioli

Following the starters, is the the main course of Grilled Scallop and Lobster, Fennel, Orange and Basil. The Hokkaido scallops grilled to perfection, are paired with freshly imported Boston lobster and cooked with fennel, rosemary, orange juice, and olive oil. The freshness of the seafood constitute to the natural sweetness of the scallops and lobster, while the tangy fennel adds a kick to the palate.

Grilled Scallop and Lobster, Fennel, Orange and Basil

A meal is never complete without dessert. Chef Anne-Cécile offers her own interpretation of the Black Forest - a deconstructed Black Forest of dark Varlhona chocolate mousse and sour cherry jelly or the griotte cherries.  Loved the richness of the dark chocolate, with the citrus griotte cherries striking a balance to the sweetness, while the crunchy feuillantine added some texture to the dessert. Gold flakes are on found on top of the feuillantine and griotte cherries, adding some extravagance to the dessert!

Each dish from the menu is also paired with a selection of wines to enhance the dining experience.

[Nostalgic Memories] The Pyramid shaped Milk Tetra Pak by Fraser & Neave

I wonder if anyone is old enough to remember seeing the above Magnolia Blobs which comes in 2 flavours - plain & creamery. OMG, this picture brought back so much fond memories when F&N Magnolia posted it on their Facebook page ...

Actually there is also Daisy Long Life Milk by F&N in Pyramid Tetra Pak, that comes in chocolate and strawberry flavours as well.  I especially heart the chocolate milk then!

Those were the days when I know not what is pyramid shaped... All I know is, whenever we go outside for breakfast on weekends, my siblings and I will request to have the "triangular" pack of milk.  It is until early 1990s that the pyramid packaging are converted to rectangular Tetra Paks

How I wish they can bring back these pyramid packaging? If not permanent, at least for a limited time.  I guess kids nowadays will still get fascinated by the pyramid packaging?

Come leave a comment and share your thoughts if you have ever tried any of these pyramid shaped milk tetra pak by F&N, be it Magnolia or Daisy.  Or, if this is the first time you see these, what do you think of it versus the current packaging?

New Look for SilkAir Cabin Crew

15 April, 2015, Singapore -- SilkAir introduces its new cabin crew uniform after 11 years with its one-piece wrap dress uniform.
The aqua-blue uniform is for the junior crew while the plum-red
version is for the senior crew

The new uniform design is meant to better reflect SilkAir’s role as regional wing of Singapore Airlines and encapsulate ‘Joy to Fly’ brand vision.

The brighter colours of aqua-blue and plum-red reflect youthfulness while the dark blue skirt, creating deeper synergies with the image of SilkAir’s parent company ~ reliability. The asymmetric neckline gives a polished and refined look with a touch of modernity and style, while the sleeve pleats mirror SilkAir’s attention to detail and thoughtful service with a touch of surprise, and the seagull patterned georgette bow pin represents the airline’s brand logo, with a fine touch of sophisticated femininity.

The two new variations of one-piece uniform is a creation of local fashion designer, Alexandria Chen, a NAFA graduate who established “Alexandria Chen” in 2012 and has designed uniform collections for various established hospitality brands
(Left to Right) Designer Alexandria Chen, Mr Leslie Thng, Chief Executive , SilkAir; Mr Ryan Pua,
VP Commercial; Daniel Boey, Runway Choreographer with SilkAir Cabin Crew-

A runway show was carried out and showcased the evolution of the SilkAir's cabin crew uniform over its 26 years of service. Which design do you fancy most?

The latest uniform by Miss Alexandria Chen, meant for easy to wear, flexible and comfortable, allowing cabin crew the ease of movement when carrying out their duties.

The first uniform of seagull motif dress, is designed by home-grown designer, Celia Loe, projecting SilkAir’s image as a resort airline in the early 1990s.

In 1994, a Balenciaga designed uniform, comprising a floral blouse, skirt and fitted jacket is being adopted by SilkAir, to echo its expansion in the market and focus to reach out to business travellers in addition to holidaymakers.

A decade later, SilkAir launched the one-piece wrap dress with an oriental design created by its own cabin crew in 2004.

Today, SilkAir operates more than 350 weekly flights to 48 destinations in 12 countries. Recent additions to the network include Hangzhou (June 2014), Denpasar (Dec 2014) and the airline will commence operations to Cairns on 30 May 2015. The airline currently has a fleet of 27 aircraft, comprising 5 A319s, 13 A320s and 9 Boeing 737-800s.

Celebrating Mother's Day @ Limoncello Pizza & Grill

Away from the bustling city, and nestled in a quiet corner of Robertson Quay, is the Limoncello Pizza & Grill.  The restaurant serves authentic Southern Italian cuisine which resonate with the palates and memories of Amalfi Coast, Italy.

It can be rather challenging navigating your way there.  If you are driving, the easiest way is to head to the River Gate condominium and get through by the side gate. If you do not drive, Limoncello is at one end of Robertson Quay with a connecting bridge to River View Hotel and Grand Copthorne.

Limoncello offers a serene view of the Singapore River and a tranquil, cascading waterfall at the al fresco dining area.  There is also indoor dining area if you prefer air con to the natural breeze.  You may also opt for the private function room if you prefer to dine in your own privacy for your private function. Love chilling out? Head over to the outdoor bar for some refreshments before/after your meal.

Napolitana wood fired pizzas and charcoal grilled meats and seafood is what distinguishes Limoncello from the rest. Limoncello prides themselves in providing one of the most authentic Italian cuisine with most ingredients imported from Italy. The three Chef - Chef Fabio Iannone (who is the owner himself), Chef Mauro Crescendo, and Chef Alessandro Di Robgerto are all native Italians, prepared the food by staying true to their Italian roots.

Mothers have always been an integral part of traditional Italian culture, therefore, Limoncello has specially come up with a Mother’s Day menu where diners get to experience Southern Italy with their mothers through a feast filled with tradition and home.

Bread sticks with Parma ham with a balsamic vinegar and olive oil dip, will be served to diners before the start of the meal. The crunchy bread stick with the savoury taste Parma ham is a perfect combination.

Begin your meal with two antipasti dishes: Portobello Al Tartufo, oven-baked Portobello mushroom with fresh sautéed spinach, drizzled with truffle sauce; and Sauté Vongole, where fresh clams are sautéed in a buttery and fragrant white wine sauce.

Baked to perfection, the portobello has a nice earthy taste, with truffle infused in the cream, adding an an extra touch to the dish.

Inhale to the whiff of sea, of the butter and white wine sauce.  The fresh clams imported from Vietnam, are fresh, and much sweeter.

For mains, you can opt for Fettuccine Con Frattaglie di Wagyu where organic fettuccine is done al-dente, tossed over stir-fried mushrooms and sliced wagyu beef in natural juice. Imagine someone like me who rarely take beef, wiping out almost the entire plate?  You need to believe how tender and juicy are the wagyu beef slices.  The fettuccine somehow has a similar texture to the Chinese "ban mian" (板面).

Not a beef lover?  Go for the signature Branzino Al Sale instead. The salt-baked catch of the day,, is uniquely Italian. Using live catch of the day ensures that you get to enjoy fresh fish. The granular rock salt used in the baking of the fish, ensures that the taste of the fish is not over powered and brings out the natural sweetness of the fish. The fish meat is firm, with taste enhanced by a dash of lemon juice. Note that picture shows media tasting portion only, actual serving will be a fish shared by the pair of diners.

Desserts is the perfect way to end any meal!  You can choose between the crowd-pleasing Limoncello Cake, or the ever-popular Tiramisu.

The warm Limoncello Cake is infused with limoncello liqueur, almonds and white chocolate with lemon and orange rinds adding some zest to it and help to neutralize the sweetness.  The crushed almonds added some texture to the soft buttery. Overall, I enjoy the Limoncello cake, but prefer it to be less sweet.

Coffee-lovers shall not miss Limoncello’s Tiramisu, where layers of savoiardi are dipped in espresso and amaretto, finished with a delicate layer of cocoa, giving a bittersweet balance. One of the better Tiramisu in town.

Last but not least, diners get to enjoy a complimentary welcome drink, as well as a bottle of selected red or white wine (may not be of same selection as below picture).

The Mother's Day Menu Selection as follows:

Apart from the Mother's Day Menu, we also get to taste some other dishes:

Fritto Di Calamari
The deep fried Italian Baby Squid is tender, not the crunchy type, and is easy to bite and chew. Most importantly, the light batter allows you to enjoy the taste the baby squid than the coat of flour.  This is certainly highly recommended!

Sibilla Pizza & Rucola e prosciutto di Parma
Sibilla Pizza is of mozzarella, homemade sausage, button mushroom, mascarpone cheese, truffle cream while the Rucola e prosciutto di Parma is of tomato, mozzarella, Parma ham, fresh rocket, parmesan.  There is a debate over which taste better between the gals and guys.  Apparently the gals prefer the former while the guys prefer the latter. But I actually prefer the latter, seems like I'm odd one out?

Linguine Al Nero Di Seppia
The Squid Ink Pasta is of linguine pasta in black ink sauce. Frankly speaking, there isn't anything particularly special of this dish except for the color as squid ink does not have any special taste. It's fun!  But I certainly will not recommend this dish during your first date, as it is likely to turn off the girl with your ink-stained lips and teeth.  And imagine the gal who puts on an effort to make up and ended up with a natural black lipstick coating?

There is also a Deli just beside the restaurant.  Patrons on-the-go can conveniently pack some food and drinks.  Wine and food ingredients that are specially imported from Italy are also available for sale.
