Exclusive Viewing and Review of We Not Naughty 《孩子不坏》

I'm very lucky to have won a pair of tickets to the exclsuive viewing of We Not naughty by retweeting Churp Churp's tweet. So together with Miss New, we went for the show. At the Cinema, we get to see the director, Jack Neo(梁智强), together with the main cast - Roy Lee(黎沸挥), Joshua Ang (洪賜健)and Shawn Lee (李创锐)in person.

It was a pleasant surrprise to have like Daniel Chan (陈晓东), Yan Liming (颜黎明)and Eric Moo (巫启贤)made their apprearance to the movie. The movie is full of humour which makes us explodes to laughter many times. It is unimaginable that my idol, Roy Lee (黎沸挥), can actually be such a funny "Beng", lol...

I find some parts of the movie being innovative and creative when Joshua Ang(洪賜健)and Shawn Lee (李创锐)invented the devices for the "ah Longs" (loan sharks), while I think the device is innovative and creative, I wouldn't wished for these devices to be mass produced else, it will be problematic instead.

Yet, the show are fill with touching moments which have actually moved me to tears, esp during the moment Xiang Yun (向云)bear with all the heartache to shave for her daughter, Cherry Hsiao(夏如芝); and when Yan Liming (颜黎明) went all the way out just to protect the kids from the "Ah Longs" (loan sharks).

I also noticed the potential of the little boy, Ivan Lo(卢楷浚), who acted as Xiang Yun's (向云)youngest son.  He really does have a flair in acting and I do look forward to more of his appearance on TV/Movie.

I would recommend the movie to all, esp to those who are big fans of I Not Stupid 1 and 2, as well as Home Run.

What has happened to our Safest Bank?

The Safest Bank in Asia for year 2009, 2010 and 2011 had $500,000 worth of unauthorised withdrawals made in Malaysia, with approx. 400 DBS and POSB customers hit!  So, how safe is safest???  This is simply ironical...

It is really shocking to know that despite with anti-skimming devices installed on the ATM machines, 2 ATM machines @ Bugis Street were compromised over a 3 days period in Nov 2011.  Has the security video managed to capture of any illegal installation of skimming devices on the 2 ATM machines which is not really made known yet.  It really freaks me out, wondering if this is an insider's job.

What has become of our once Nation Bank?  Majority of the nation is having our salary credited to saving accounts with these 2 banks and facilitating most GIRO monthly payments service.  What if one day their system got hacked, how much fund will be affected???  Even if I'm not a millionaire with millions of dollars saved in DBS or POSB, I do get worried as every single cent is my hard earned money.  Do not forget almost the whole nation is putting their savings with the 2 banks and many a little makes a mickle, so this is simply no joke.

We certainly need DBS & POSB to beef up their system from fraudulent transactions.  Pls live up to your name!!!

Time Flies...

Time really flies... now we are already into the 2nd week of 2012 and soon Chinese New Year will come.  Do you ever made any New Year Resolutions?  I do tried a couple of times, but eventually none has actually realised, lol...

So this round I will not be making any resolutions, but rather, I shall set some easy short term targets for myself. Do I sound contradicting?  Lol...

It's been a while since I last sign up some swap, so now, I ready to participate and have just signed up a couple.  I've learnt not to over-confidendant of myself, having to meet too many deadlines at about the same time.  So my first target will be -- on time delivery (or rather on time mailing of the swap items)!

I'm glad that my momentum of reading is back since last Book Fest 2011, pretty much motivatated by Giddens (九把刀)& Eric Wu(吴若权).  So my second target will be keep reading!!!  Read, and you shall learn more!  If possible I would like to try to do some reviews on the books I've read; this is not in my target, but will be bonus if I do manage to do some of the reviews :P

For now, my third target will be craft more, so that I can utilise my scrapbooking materials into good use and can clear up some space at the same time for more easy housekeeping!

And last but not least, I aim to head to Chinatown for a photo shooting session just like what I did last year.  Time is a bit of rush since these few weeks have been extremely busy, so I really do need some effort to make it real.

Ok, these shall be my short term target for now and hopefully I managed to achieve all!

East Coast Mile 2012

Had a real early morning this day for the East Coast Mile 2012.  Together with Jennie & Rachel, we represented the Changi Simei CC WEC to share about the scrapbooking interest group and to do some demo.  Was sort of out of mojo for some time and seriously having headache, to think of what to design for the tags.

Luckily, with Jennie's inspiration, and making good use of her wooden stamps and RAK from Dorcas, we managed to create some tags as demonstration.

We love some of Jennie's design so much that Raechel and I even went to the the extend to replicate her designs.  Can you guess which are my creations and which are my replication of Jennie's design???

OK, those circled in black are my original designs and those circled in red are my replication of Jennie's design.  Keep guessing which is Jennie's original piece since Rachel also replicate the same designs.  I'll let you know if your guess is correct, lol!

Getting Wild This New Year

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has launched new seasonal favours which seems to be really wild for the New Year.  Wild Cherry Vanilla Ice Blended/ Tea Latte / Fru-tea Drinks!

Most often, I prefer Ice Blended drinks or hot Latte @ The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, but this round the Wild Cherry Fru-tea drinks seems rather tempting for me :P

If you have had already tried out these drinks, do share with me your feedback since I really cannot make up my mind to go for which type of drink first.

English Pronunciation by G. Nolst Trenité

How confident are you with your pronunciation?  Try reading below:

Dearest creature in creation,
Study English pronunciation.
I will teach you in my verse
Sounds like corpse, corps, horse, and worse.
I will keep you, Suzy, busy,
Make your head with heat grow dizzy.
Tear in eye, your dress will tear.
So shall I! Oh hear my prayer.
Just compare heart, beard, and heard,
Dies and diet, lord and word,
Sword and sward, retain and Britain.
(Mind the latter, how it’s written.)
Now I surely will not plague you
With such words as plaque and ague.
But be careful how you speak:
Say break and steak, but bleak and streak;
Cloven, oven, how and low,
Script, receipt, show, poem, and toe.
Hear me say, devoid of trickery,
Daughter, laughter, and Terpsichore,
Typhoid, measles, topsails, aisles,
Exiles, similes, and reviles;
Scholar, vicar, and cigar,
Solar, mica, war and far;
One, anemone, Balmoral,
Kitchen, lichen, laundry, laurel;
Gertrude, German, wind and mind,
Scene, Melpomene, mankind.
Billet does not rhyme with ballet,
Bouquet, wallet, mallet, chalet.
Blood and flood are not like food,
Nor is mould like should and would.
Viscous, viscount, load and broad,
Toward, to forward, to reward.
And your pronunciation’s OK
When you correctly say croquet,
Rounded, wounded, grieve and sieve,
Friend and fiend, alive and live.
Ivy, privy, famous; clamour
And enamour rhyme with hammer.
River, rival, tomb, bomb, comb,
Doll and roll and some and home.
Stranger does not rhyme with anger,
Neither does devour with clangour.
Souls but foul, haunt but aunt,
Font, front, wont, want, grand, and grant,
Shoes, goes, does. Now first say finger,
And then singer, ginger, linger,
Real, zeal, mauve, gauze, gouge and gauge,
Marriage, foliage, mirage, and age.
Query does not rhyme with very,
Nor does fury sound like bury.
Dost, lost, post and doth, cloth, loth.
Job, nob, bosom, transom, oath.
Though the differences seem little,
We say actual but victual.
Refer does not rhyme with deafer.
Foeffer does, and zephyr, heifer.
Mint, pint, senate and sedate;
Dull, bull, and George ate late.
Scenic, Arabic, Pacific,
Science, conscience, scientific.
Liberty, library, heave and heaven,
Rachel, ache, moustache, eleven.
We say hallowed, but allowed,
People, leopard, towed, but vowed.
Mark the differences, moreover,
Between mover, cover, clover;
Leeches, breeches, wise, precise,
Chalice, but police and lice;
Camel, constable, unstable,
Principle, disciple, label.
Petal, panel, and canal,
Wait, surprise, plait, promise, pal.
Worm and storm, chaise, chaos, chair,
Senator, spectator, mayor.
Tour, but our and succour, four.
Gas, alas, and Arkansas.
Sea, idea, Korea, area,
Psalm, Maria, but malaria.
Youth, south, southern, cleanse and clean.
Doctrine, turpentine, marine.
Compare alien with Italian,
Dandelion and battalion.
Sally with ally, yea, ye,
Eye, I, ay, aye, whey, and key.
Say aver, but ever, fever,
Neither, leisure, skein, deceiver.
Heron, granary, canary.
Crevice and device and aerie.
Face, but preface, not efface.
Phlegm, phlegmatic, ass, glass, bass.
Large, but target, gin, give, verging,
Ought, out, joust and scour, scourging.
Ear, but earn and wear and tear
Do not rhyme with here but ere.
Seven is right, but so is even,
Hyphen, roughen, nephew Stephen,
Monkey, donkey, Turk and jerk,
Ask, grasp, wasp, and cork and work.
Pronunciation (think of Psyche!)
Is a paling stout and spikey?
Won’t it make you lose your wits,
Writing groats and saying grits?
It’s a dark abyss or tunnel:
Strewn with stones, stowed, solace, gunwale,
Islington and Isle of Wight,
Housewife, verdict and indict.
Finally, which rhymes with enough,
Though, through, plough, or dough, or cough?
Hiccough has the sound of cup.
My advice is to give up!!!

English Pronunciation by G. Nolst Trenité

OMG, I'm having problem pronouncing the whole chunk and finally gave up after reading 2 paragraphs.  Anyone kind enough to offer free English tutoring, just one lesson for me to be able to pronounce the above properly.  LOL...

Hmm, maybe I should set "to be able to read & pronounce correctly the English Pronounciation" as my 2012 resolution?  LOL...
