[Musical Review] Tony-Awards nominated musical & Juliet @ Marina Bay Sands
& Juliet will make its Asian premiere and only Asian stop at the Sands Theatre in Marina Bay Sands from 21 Sep till 15 Oct 2023!
Written
by five-time Grammy winner, David West Read, the musical features pop anthems
from last three decades and music by the Swedish songwriter Max Martin. & Juliet
is a hilarious and witty reimagining of Shakespeare's greatest love story ever,
Romeo and Juliet. The 150 mins musical takes a fresh and contemporary approach
to imagine Juliet’s life if she had not given it up for Romeo. What if the ending you know so well was just the
beginning? What if Juliet chose her own fate?
Attended the Gala Night Premiere of & Juliet with my sister, CF. To be honest, before I step into the theatre, I have not held much expectation for & Juliet, but turned-out, the show is so captivating that I totally enjoyed it and had an amazing night!
& Juliet was a fun musical where you can expect lots of laughter, dancing and singing, with some dirty jokes at times, and also moments of sensation. The playlist of iconic pop songs fits perfectly to the scenes, with lyrics being wisely used in place of conversation.
It was a night of relishing popular radio hits, such as, Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop the Feeling, Katy Perry’s Roar, Kelly
Clarkson’s Since U Been Gone, Britney Spears’ Baby One More Time, Backstreet
Boys’ Larger Than Life, Celine Dion’s That’s The Way It Is. The audience,
including me, had totally enjoyed the songs and can’t help singing along. Some
of the audience even danced when towards end of the musical.
The musical is not only entertaining, but enlightening! Singapore is the only Asian stop on the tour, where & Juliet will be staged, do not MISS this chance to catch this amazingly engaging musical show!

& Juliet is truly enjoyable with the beautiful stage settings, and most importantly, great vocals of the casts. Other than Lorinda May Merrypor, starring as Juliet, and Amy Lehpamer who starred as Anne, whom I love their voice, there's someone that I need to make a special mention. The person is none other than, Jesse Dutlow who starred as May. I really love his voice and how expressive he is, I am totally captivated by him and truly felt the emotions and struggles that he was going through and I almost teared at some scenes... Do share with me, whom and what you like best, after watching this musical.
