Taiwanese singer-songwriter Ricky Hsiao Huang Qi will be holding his first solo concert in Singapore -  Ricky Hsiao 2023 Live in Singapore (蕭煌奇 ‘對愛入座’ 2023新加坡演唱會) at Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands on August 19, 8pm.

 Hsiao will be treating fans to an uplifting night of classic tunes and heartfelt songs written by him over the past twenty years. Tickets are now on sale via Marina Bay Sands Ticketing and SISTIC, ranging from $78 to $912, excluding booking fee.

 

Blind since birth due to congenital cataracts, Hsiao regained partial vision after undergoing surgery at the age of four, but subsequently lost his sight completely at 15. Although he is visually impaired, Ricky Hsiao is not just an outstanding Chinese pop music singer-songwriter but also a judo athlete. Hsiao made his debut in 2002 with the studio album You Are My Eyes. Putting his heart and soul into his songs, Hsiao has since released 15 albums in both Chinese and Taiwanese, with the most recent being A Storytelling Song in 2022.

 

In 1999, Ricky was recognised as one of the Top Ten Outstanding Youth in Taiwan. In 2016, he became the first visually impaired singer in history to stage his “Mysterious World” Concert at the Taipei Arena. Since his debut 20 years ago, he has been nominated for the Golden Melody Awards 19 times, winning Best Taiwanese Album three times and currently holds the record with four wins in the Best Taiwanese Male Singer category.

 

During his school days, Hsiao formed a band with fellow blind and visually impaired friends, where he took on the role of lead singer and saxophone player. The band travelled all over Taiwan, visiting places like schools for blind children and jails, to bring light and warmth to people from all walks of life.

蕭煌奇將以他的人生故事及他 20 多年的所創作的感人肺腑的歌曲及經典歌曲，為歌迷帶來一個振奮人心的夜晚。門票現已通過 Marina Bay Sands Ticketing 和 SISTIC 發售，票價從 $78 至 $912元之間，不包括預訂費。

 

由於先天性白內障而雙目失明，四歲時接受手術重獲部分視力，但在十五歲時完全失明。也是一名柔道運動員。蕭煌奇在2002年以錄音室專輯《你是我的眼》出道。蕭煌奇全心全意地投入到歌曲中，此後發行了 15 張中文和台語專輯，最近的一張是 2022 年的《說故事的歌》。

1999年，蕭煌奇被評為台灣十大傑出青年之一。 2016年，他成為史上第一位在台北小巨蛋舉辦“神秘世界”演唱會的視障歌手。出道20年來，他19次入圍金曲獎，3次奪得最佳台語專輯，目前以4次奪得最佳台語男歌手獎保持著紀錄。

 

在學生時代，蕭煌奇與其他盲人和視障朋友組成了一個樂隊，擔任主唱和薩克斯手。樂隊走遍台灣各地，走訪盲童學校、監獄等地，為各界人士帶來光明與溫暖。
