LG Invests in US-based Bossa Nova to Develop Robot Innovation
LG Electronics is making its first overseas robotics investment in US-based Bossa Nova Robotics, aside from deals with Korean-based startups over the past year. Robotics is identified as a key component of LG's ThinQ AI strategy, contributing critical future growth opportunity for LG.
Bossa Nova Robotics, being the leading provider of real-time, on-shelf product data for the global retail industry, helps large-scale retail stores in automating collection and analysis of on-shelf inventory data efficiently. Various Walmart stores have been on trial with Bossa Nova’s shelf-scanning robots since last year.
The funding of Bossa Nova follows LG’s investments in four other local Korea robotics companies: Acryl, SG ROBOTICS, Robotis and Robostar, is to complement LG’s efforts to bring service robots to market in the very near future, and become a core growth engine for the company.
