[Food Review] DaeSsiksin Korean BBQ Buffet by MOF @ West Mall [CEASED OPERATION]

DaeSsiksin is an All-You-Can-Eat Korean Grill Barbeque Buffet Restaurant by Ministry of Food (MOF).

There are several outlets island wide with its latest addition at Cathay Cineleisure Orchard on 6 Dec 2016 and up coming new branch at United Square on 23 Dec 2016.

Recently, a group of friends and I were invited to DaeSsiksin @ West Mall for a food tasting session.

Right at the door steps of DaeSsiksin, you can feel the "K-wave" in the air with the big LED TVs  showing the K-Pop MVs.

All items of on the buffet line are authentically created by the team of Korean chefs to complement the décor reminiscent of a busy street in Seoul.  There is 10 - 12 types of signature marinated meats, fresh ingredients for the BBQ. Initially, I thought the variety seems o.k. only but I realized the spread is actually quite decent.  Eventually, I did not manage to try out all the offerings in the buffet line as I mainly "attack" my typical favourite type of ingredients to satisfy my palate!

A good range of marinated meats, love the spicy spicy chicken bulgogi most!

And this is not all, there is also a range of Korean delicacies and readily cooked food, so that you start your meal with the small bites and catching up with friends, while BBQ-ing the ingredients.

MUST EAT: The Kimchi is one of the highlight that CANNOT be missed!  Even Angie who don't usually fancy kimchi, thinks it taste nice too!  HP, Yuki and I can't help getting our 2nd and 3rd serving!

The Korean Pork Belly which doesn't seems too appealing, surprisingly tasted good, simply tender and juicy!

A serving of cheese dip is available at $3, which levels up your BBQ meal experience. The cheese lovers will definitely love it as cheese almost goes well with anything!

Chef of the day - Yuki, is making full concentration in BBQ-ing!

The Korean Barbeque or Gogigui (meat roast) over the grill offers a burst of flavours, and tastes as good as it looks.

Try the unconventional way of BBQ-ing your food by experimenting around! Add in some fried rice to the BBQ grill pan together with the BBQ meat, cheese with some kimchi and you get BBQ meat kimchi cheese fried rice!  Add in some sweet corns to add a touch of sweetnees...

If you are feeling guilty with eating all the meats only, wrap your BBQ food in a lettuce to balance up your diet with sufficient dietary fiber!

Ending the day with a group of friends over a dinner is simply awesome, as the fondest memories are made when gathered around the table!

  1. One of the smallest selection of meat around

Cheese is not free but chargeable at 3

    Nothing really great

Would recommend going to the real KBBQ run by ssikek or 食客

    1. Hi Xtrocious, thanks for your recommendation. I've been to Ssikkek before and I find they also do not have very extensive range of meat selection. Personally feels that, be it DaeSsiksin or Ssikkek, both are ideal for casual Korean BBQ dining at affordable pricing.

  2. Food are not fresh enough, was a regular before due to service quality drop stop me go back again, after few months come back again even worst, even onion are turn yellow and have to wait for staff come out to change grill, step in on 3.45pm, 4.30pm tell us “ we closing” last time at least not chasing us and tell us food serve until 4.30pm due to prepare dinner, you can finish your food.

    1. Sorry to hear about, this was back in 2016 and I have not revisit this outlet since am staying in the East. You may like to feedback to the food chain itself?
