[Food Review] Authentic Korean Cuisine at Yorijori Singapore, Kovan CC

Nestled within the bustling, raucous neighbourhood of Kovan, at Paya Lebar Kovan CC, Yorijori is set to add a definite buzz in the heartland-dining scene. It is just few minutes walk from the Kovan MRT Station, just opposite of Kovan McDonalds.

Do your know that apart from the chicken and vegetables, every soup bases & main ingredients, including rice are imported from Korea? Even their tables are imported from Korea!  However, fear not about burning a hole in your pocket to enjoy an authentic Korean Cuisine as their menu are reasonably priced and affordable to all heartlanders. Yorijori aims to bring quality Korean cuisine to Singaporean at reasonable prices.

The Dak Gal Bi is a hot pot of Spicy Stir Fried Chicken Ribs, together with vegetables and Korean rice cake (Tteokbokki), all for S$12 only.  The portion is rather big and enough for 3-4 person to share. It might be a liitle too spicy for those who have low tolerance level for spicy food but it's really shiok!

Oh yes, the Banchan  (side dishes) actually comes free flow with main dish ordered.  The crunchy myulchi bokkeum (stir fried anchovies) is simply addictive!  I would ask for refill for sure!

Do consider ordering the Special Fried Rice (S$6) if you have ordered the Bulgogi or Dak Gal Bi. The Special Fried Rice comprise of rice, seaweed, as well as kimchi . Stir fry it in the same pot to soak up the flavoursome stew and flatten to attain the crunchiness of rice crust.

The Haemul Pajeow (S$12) is a Seafood Pan Cake with loads of seafood, like prawns and squid. It is very crispy and dip in the venegar sauce, it taste even better.

Korean BBQ is all time favourite in Korean Cuisine, so, how can we miss it?   The Original Pork Belly is selling at S$16/200g, the Garlic Pork Belly at S$18/200g and the Spicy Pork Belly at S$18/200g. Wrapped it in the lettuce with cucumber and carrot sticks, together with shallot and chilli slices, spread with some spicy paste. You will feel that the BBQ pork is less greasy, eating this way.

The Boo Dae Jji Gae (S$14) is also known as the Army Stew.  It actually originates during the time of Korean War where all leftover food from U.S. Arm facilities are dumped into a large pot and boiled to cook. Boo Dae Jji Gae is certainly scrumptious with the large variety of ingredients which includes, vegetables, luncheon meat, hotdogs, beancurds, mushroom, Japchae (Sweet Potato Noodles), etc.  This is definitely value for money!

The Self Teokbokki (S$12) is of similar concept to Boo Dae Jji but with less meat variety and added the Rice Cake. Between the Boo Dae Jji Gae and Self Teokbokki, I definitely prefer the former.

The Gaeraw JJim (S$5) is basically steamed egg.  Pretty much like home steamed egg, however, the light and fluffy steamed egg is simply flavoursome.

How can we do without the signature Watermelon Soju? It is so sweet that some might take it as mocktails. Light liquor drinkers, do be mindful when drinking the watermelon Soju, else, you may get drunk before you know it.
