Tim Ho Wan (添好運) Jan 2014 Special Sneak Peak

I believe most people are no less familiar of Tim Ho Wan by now.  It is the Hong Kong Dim Sum restaurant that was awarded with the Michele star and retained it for the fourth year running.

Its first Singapore outlet at Plaza Singapura has been drawing crowds since then till now. Followed by the Toa Payoh branch, Tim Ho Wan Singapore has officially opened its 3rd and 4th outlet at Bedok Mall and West gate this 28 December 2013, which marks a great milestone for Tim Ho Wan to have launch 4 outlets just within 9 months. For this occasion, Chef Mak Kwai Pui, who is stationed in Hong Kong, has travelled over to Singapore for the grand opening of these 2 new outlets.  With these 2 outlets in the east and west, heartlanders no longer need to travel down town to have their appetite satisfied.

We were invited to the Official Grand Opening of the Bedok Mall outlet and official opening started off with the traditional Chinese lion dance, followed by the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Tim Ho Wan’s marquee dish, Baked Bun with BBQ Pork has earned the applauds of many food critics and its other menu mainstays such as the Pan Fried Carrot Cake and Steamed Egg Cake have also made it to the must-try lists of gourmet lovers.
Baked Bun with BBQ Pork (S$4.50/ 3pcs)

The Baked Bun with BBQ Pork is definitely a must try at the Tim Ho Wan.  The crispy outer crust yet soft and chewy bun is indeed scrumptuous!

Missing in menu of Bedok Mall out, is the Chicken Feet in Black Bean sauce.  In replacement, they have this Braised Chicken Feet in Abalone Sauce.  Apart from the steamed soft chicken feet, it is more of crunchy and chewy type.  Love that the braised chicken feet also comes with peanuts.

Never one to rest on its laurel, Tim Ho Wan continue to come up with new creations to cater to Singaporeans’ palates.

We had the previlege for a sneak peak of the January 2014 specials, of which, these monthly specials will be available at the different outlets and on rotation basis where patrons get to try them at their preferred Tim Ho Wan outlet during different months.

Bedok Mall and Westgate January 2014 Specials

Yam Dumpling with Chili Crab Meat $5.00

I think this is a very unique way of presenting the Singaporean's all time favourite - Chilli crab.

Jade Wanton in Laksa Soup $5.00

Look at the size of the wanton, it's BIG indeed! I will think that pure shrimp wanton may go better than the chives wanton with the Laksa Soup, but again, this is just individual preference.

Toa Payoh January 2014 Specials

Crispy Salad Fish Rolls $4.20

I love how the batter was done, very crispy!  But it may taste better if the portion of the thousand island sauce is reduced, as I do find it somehow masked the taste of the fish.

Phoenix City Quail Eggs $5.00

This is one the favouite among all of us, the prawn is fresh and crunchy.

Plaza Singapura January 2014 Specials

Dace Fish Paste Soup with Lettuce $6.00

Steamed Chicken with Fish Maw $5.50

I'll think that it is pretty good deal for the Steamed Chicken with Fish Maw at $5.50 with the generous portion of fish maw, the steamed chicken that retained the moisture which adds to its juiciness.
